It is translation’s inability to thoroughly re-make a meaning that enables it to make yet another meaning.
Artist Statement
I’m an emerging artist based in East Anglia. My background is non-traditional, having originally trained as a research scientist.

My visual practice deals with landscapes of the mind’s eye constructed from personal memory, imagination and the patterns of nature. I am interested in translucent colour, light and lyrical abstraction. Recurrent themes include portals leading into interior and exterior worlds and journeys of transformation. Walking, creative writing, photography, printmaking and painting contribute to my experience of nature and sense of place.

My work seeks to capture the essence of nature as a teacher, with infinity and ambiguity at the core, together with a meditative contemplation of the self. Current work is concerned with cyclical time, micro and macro universes and the layering of voices in place. Ongoing research includes experimentation with ambiguity, semi-abstraction, and process investigation using mixed media and photographic techniques.
I studied photography at Central Saint Martin’s and the University of Westminster and have a master’s in fine art from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
